Last night happened. And I am still in it.
We opened with new singles, including Unique, something to set the tone before going deeper. Then the EP, Will I See You Again, in full. Time Kills Everything That I Love, Fake It, Morning, Secrets and Dreams, Bear. Playing those songs live, in order, felt like telling a story I had been holding onto for a long time. The band locked in from the first bar and never let go.
Then the hits. I’m Not in Love with You, Black Roses, Thank You, Boy, Forever Wrong. That is where the room really opened up. There is a particular kind of drive that only happens when a band is pushing together and the audience is pushing back. Last night had that. The rock energy in those songs lands differently on stage, louder and more physical, and I felt it through the whole set.
The contact with the crowd was real. Eye contact, people singing back, that specific moment when you stop performing and start just being in the room together. That is the thing I missed most this past year and last night gave it back completely.
Thank you to everyone who came. It meant more than I can properly say.
More shows soon.
