Last Night’s Jam Session: Pure Musical Chemistry

Last night’s live stream from Flanger Studio turned into exactly what I hoped it would. Pure collaborative energy with no agenda beyond making music together.

The setup was simple: me on vocals, bass, guitar, and drums filling out the sound. We’d played together before, but jamming live whilst streaming added this interesting dynamic where performing for an audience met genuine creative exploration. The balance worked surprisingly well.

We started without predetermined direction, just feeling out where the energy wanted to go. The bassist laid down a groove, guitar responded with texture, drums found the pocket, and suddenly we were building something organic. That’s when vocals enter naturally rather than being forced.

What surprised me most was how much new material emerged during the session. I essentially jammed out ideas for new songs right there in real time. Some melodic fragments I’d been carrying around finally found their proper home when surrounded by this particular group of musicians.

We covered new material still in development alongside older tracks approached from fresh angles. The collaborative interpretation revealed possibilities I hadn’t considered when writing alone. That’s the magic of jamming with skilled musicians who bring their own creative perspectives.

If you missed it, the stream remains available for 48 hours: https://lemy-music.bandcamp.com/live/live-jam-session-at-flanger-studio

Thank you to everyone who joined and to the musicians who made the session work. Flanger Studio provided perfect space for this kind of spontaneous creation.

More jam sessions planned. This format clearly works.
