The track released today. 24th October, exactly as planned.
This song took me somewhere different sonically. Heavier guitar work than anything I’ve done before, denser production, more rock-oriented approach. Working with Vitaly remotely pushed the sound in directions I wouldn’t have explored alone. The distance between studios actually clarified what the track needed.
The core remained familiar though. Vulnerability, spiritual searching, that constant tension between faith and human limitation. The lyrics navigate between personal longing and universal questions about truth and forgiveness. Standing on that metaphorical hill, searching for answers, realising you’re just human facing forces much larger than yourself.
Recording the repeated “I’m just a human” sections broke something open. Multiple takes, voice layered over maximum guitar density, trying to capture genuine desperation rather than performed emotion. Some takes didn’t work. Others cut too deep to use. Found the right balance eventually.
The production buries the vocals intentionally during the bridge. Not clean separation but integration within the wall of sound. Seemed right for material about human smallness against overwhelming circumstances.
I’ve cried listening to the final mix multiple times, which rarely happens with my own work. Usually enough distance exists between creating and hearing back that emotional impact lessens. Not here. This one maintains its weight.
The track won’t suit everyone. Too heavy for listeners expecting softer indie, too vulnerable for those wanting pure rock aggression. Sits in uncomfortable middle territory between delicate vocals and dense instrumental backing.
Performing this live will require complete emotional availability. No hiding behind performance technique, just direct connection with the material and whoever’s listening.
