November 8th: Brigadniy Podryad Live

Caught Brigadniy Podryad’s gig this past Saturday. Russian rock that hits differently when experienced live rather than through headphones. The venue was packed, energy building from the first chord.

“Welcome Abroad” stood out amongst their setlist. The track captures something about displacement and belonging that resonates deeply right now. Hearing it performed live added layers I’d missed in recorded versions. The guitar work was particularly sharp, cutting through the crowd noise with precision.

During one of the heavier songs, I noticed a small boy sitting on his father’s shoulders near the front. He was completely absorbed in the performance, tiny hands moving to the rhythm. Something about that image felt worth capturing. The pure engagement, the way live music connects across generations.

The father kept adjusting his grip, making sure his son had the best view possible. Meanwhile, the kid was experiencing his first proper rock concert, wide-eyed and fascinated. These moments remind me why live music matters beyond streaming figures or social media metrics.

Brigadniy Podryad delivered exactly what their audience needed. Raw energy, honest songwriting, and that particular intensity that only emerges in a room full of people sharing the same experience. Left the venue feeling recharged about my own upcoming performances.

Russian rock scene continues to surprise me with its depth and authenticity.
