Behind the Scenes: BOY Video Shoot

We wrapped filming for BOY this week, and April 4th you’ll finally see what we’ve been creating. The shoot was intense – three days of non-stop work that pushed everyone to their limits.

The makeup and styling process alone took hours each day. Experimenting with different looks, finding the right balance between elegance and edge. You can see some of that process in the behind-the-scenes shots – the team working on getting every detail perfect.

What struck me most was how collaborative the whole process became. Between takes, we’d huddle around monitors, discussing what was working, what needed adjusting. Everyone had input, from the cinematographer to the makeup artist. Those quiet moments of planning were just as important as the actual filming.

The technical challenges were real. Working with colored lighting setups that change the entire mood of a scene. We’d spend an hour getting one shot exactly right, then completely rebuild for the next angle. The attention to detail was obsessive, but that’s what makes the difference.

The costume changes were constant. Different looks for different emotional states, each one requiring a complete reset of hair, makeup, everything. By day three, we had this routine down – the crew moving like clockwork between setups.

What you don’t see in the final video is how much laughter happened between the intense moments. Filmmaking is serious work, but when you’re working with people who understand your vision, it becomes something you actually enjoy.

The editing process starts now. Taking dozens of hours of footage and crafting it into something that serves the song. That’s where the real magic happens – in the decisions about what to show and what to leave mysterious.

April 4th you’ll see the result.

Some stories need more than just music to tell them properly.
